Maybe it's a little early to be reviewing these and I should wait and see how they respond in different conditions...but these shoes are very different Hardrocks - much lighter - than any of the models in the prior 3-4 years. They also did not seem big - I am used to buying Montrails a half-size too big - with these I had to use the insert that came with the shoe and my (full-size) orthotics to get a snug fit. At first it was a little freaky: they just did not seem sufficiently rugged or protective. But since I've gotten used to them I am enjoying that they seem as sturdy as the old Hardrocks, but much lighter. Laces still have a tendency to come undone - Montrail can't seem to fix that issue. The shoes have given me no real problems at 30-40 miles/week, in easy to moderately technical trail conditions."

Good but not Great - Like the shoe, very sturdy and rugged. The shoe was tight so I had to go up a half size. The lace system is nice but could use a little more ankle support .
